Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife

Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Spanish: Puerto de Santa Cruz de Tenerife) is a port of fishing, commercial, passenger and sports in the Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain, European Union. Located in the Atlantic Ocean. It is managed by the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Next to this port is the famous building of the Auditorio de Tenerife.

It is the first fishing port in the Canary Islands with approximately 7,500 tons of fish caught, according to the Statistical Yearbook of the State Ports. Following this report is the largest port number of passengers recorded. Similarly, the second port of Spain moving ship and loaded into cars, only surpassed by the Port of Algeciras Bay.[1] In the port's facilities include a border inspection post (BIP) approved by the European Union, which is responsible for inspecting all types of imports from third countries or exports to countries outside the European Economic Area.

On September 26, 1993 45.000 people went to the concert of American superstar Michael Jackson as part of his Dangerous World Tour. Never before had an American singer done this. All profits were donated to various charities including the new Heal the World Foundation that was set up by Jackson.

It is also Spain's largest port in question and similar cruise (barges, and other large vessels). It is therefore the first port of the Canary Islands in operation and the second in Spain. It is also the only port in the Canary Islands in permanent connection with the Iberian peninsula (in Cádiz). Have docked at this port some of the world's largest ocean liners like the Queen Mary 2 (2004) and Queen Elizabeth II (also 2004). The port is of great importance, is the communications hub between Europe, Africa and Americas, and she and cruise ships arriving from all nationalities. The city is the nerve center on domestic and inter-communications in Canary Islands.[2]
